Huge crowd attends Mt. Vernon School of Music “Spring Recital” at the Doles Center

A huge crowd packed the Doles Center’s theater in Mount Vernon on Saturday, June 17, to be a part of the Mount Vernon School of Music “Spring Recital.”

The Mount Vernon School of Music transforms young lives through excellence in music - teaching, performance, creative activities, research and service – and it all starts at a very young age.

The MVSM staff collectively has over 30 years of experience performing and teaching music in the New York area as well as nationally.  Their love and passion for music is evident in their dedication to the children of Mount Vernon and Westchester County.

Opening comments came from Judy Williams, the school's administrator, who thanked the many parents for having the vision to enroll their children in a school that is educating their children about the arts, teaching them how to become excellent vocalists, and also teaching them to play their favorite instruments – all in a safe environment.

The capacity crowd engaged in continuous clapping as the young recitalists performed - all demonstrating their skills on the piano, guitar and an assortment of other instruments.

Maureen Wilson, director of the music school said, “Our goal is to help students garner a love of music that will be with them their entire lives. Our school strives to spread the transformative power of music by providing the highest quality music education and experiences to all in the Mount Vernon community and beyond.”

The children that performed at the recital were excited and looking forward to another recital that is quickly approaching - the Holiday Recital, since it was an excellent opportunity to proudly showcase their skills, share their musical talents with family and friends and practice performing in front of an audience.
